With 11.8 million units sold in the first quarter, sales of iPad accounting for 68% tablet market share, leaving far behind its’ rivals Samsung and Amazon.
Recently, the market research firm IDC has released a report, which announced the sales of tablet PCs and e-book reader worldwide. Accordingly, no surprise iPad is the best selling products with 11.8 of the total 17.4 million devices sold, accounting for 68% market share.
IDC also said that although the purchasing power remains strong compared to last year, but the growth does not meet the requirements as expected. It is surprising that Samsung, with the Galaxy product line, has surpassed Amazon to become the world’s second large tablet manufacturer with about 4% market share.
This is considered a serious decline in Amazon Kindle Fire sales because at the time of IV/2011, the market share of this device is still very high at 16.8%. Lenovo and Barnes & Noble are the leading manufacturers, ranked 4 and 5, also indicates that users are gradually looking for cheaper devices, more stable in a difficult economic time like today.
Currently, the tablet market was no longer “hot” as one or two years ago but most likely by the time of this fall, users will see a “wave” of new products when Microsoft’s new operating system, Windows 8 is officially released.
